Victorian Mantle Transom
Victorian Mantle Transom is named because of its classic Victorian design and because it has hung over the fireplace mantle in my home for the past 25 years. The glass size is 14 1/2" x 30 1/2" with a 1 1/2" oak frame and contains 84 pieces of glass. This is one of my favorite stained glass designs, very simple and yet, very elegant. The outside border glass is a deep ruby red. The background glass is glue chip glass which is particularly useful as a privacy glass. The red and blue glass globs really capture the light in a transom facing the sun.

Above is the inspiration for my Victorian Mantle Transom. I found this photo in a magazine around Thanksgiving in the late 80's. I liked the basic design so I evolved my design from this. I don't have a clue who did the original window or where it came from, but it is classic Victorian in design.
