Dean's Stained Glass
Since these windows would see the setting sun, we designed a clear beveled border band, lots of jewels and 8 amber square "pinch back" castings per window to really take advantage of the sunlight. We decided to reverse the herons so they would face each other and to use 2 different sky colors..... one representing a light blue daytime sky and the other a fiery sunset sky. This was the first time I have done a mirror image glass project ... and really like what we achieved.

Marlene called me about duplicating a stained glass heron that she had bought years ago. She has a set of double windows in her beautiful waterfront home in Orange Beach, Alabama that she wanted to fill with color. The size of her heron window wasn't big enough to fill one of the windows.... and the glass would have been almost impossible to match .... so we decided to "start from scratch" and build matching herons that would fit perfectly.
On completion, I built new mahogany wood frames to support and protect the stained glass. Fortunately, Marlene lives near enough so that I could measure for the glass initially and then install the windows myself .... to insure that every thing worked out as planned. Marlene was one of the nicest people I have ever worked with. She knew exactly what she wanted, was decisive in her design and color choices and, most importantly, was very patient when I strayed off schedule! This is one of my all time favorite projects!
