Herbert Window Restoration
In May of 2016, I purchased a broken antique stained glass window from the estate of George Herbert of Pensacola. The window had 5 major broken pieces, and as much as I hate repairs, I really liked the size and colors of this window. It called out to me to give it a proper restoration.

Dean's Stained Glass
This window measures 24" x 56.5" and originally had 3 hinges on one side and 2 latches on the other. A stained glass specialist told me the window is American and dates from about 1905- 1914 based on the narrow zinc came used in its construction and the Arts and Crafts or Mission style evident in the design. It was probably a part of a multiple casement window set in a Sunroom. This type of window was fairly common in larger houses of the period in the North and Midwest.
I spent a full day replacing the 5 broken clear pieces, flattening out and reinforcing the window, and dressing up the frame. I was lucky that all the original colored glass was present .... as antique glass is almost impossible to match.
Damaged glass to replace
I wish I knew about the history of this window. Its owner, Mr Herbert was a Navy Pilot for 38 years and later a successful businessman. Marie, his wife of 62 years, interestingly enough, during WWII was a sheetmetal worker aka "Rosie the Riveter" at NAS Pensacola.

I love the simplicity of this window and am proud to have been able to restore it, so it can move into its second hundred years!
